The nature of the twelfth house is elusive and difficult to understand, since it presupposes the contemporaneity of all the facets of being, which here blend harmoniously in an eternally flowing of time/non-time. In this astrological sector, which is often improperly defined as “the final stage” (due to the natural tendency of Westerners to perceive time in a linear rather than circular way), the infinite contradictions of existence coexist, like thousands of frames that are superimposed on each other and then observed through a wide-angle lens.
Pointed by many astrologers as bringing the end and conclusion of a cycle, the twelfth house is a complex house. It represents the end of a cycle, individual and collective, but still leaves open the suggestion of a new beginning, cosmic, mystical or existential.
THE PLANETS OF THE 12th HOUSE
In fact, it should not be forgotten that Jupiter and Neptune are domiciled in Pisces (co-significant sign of the house) and, if Neptune is “dangerous and sublime”, Jupiter always offers a good dose of reassurance and trust in a future change, even if it is a life beyond life.
Let’s be clear, however, the twelfth does not only speak of the afterlife, a hypothetical place about which all conjectures are possible, but obviously also has a weight in this life, indicating its end and purpose.
THE OUTSIDERS
It is true that those who have strong values in the twelfth grade often live outside the norm, due to intrinsic personal diversity or because circumstances have made them feel isolated or alien compared to contemporaneity or current society. The escapes typical of the house may be real or just fantasized, even if the natives perhaps do not make much difference between these two manifestations and, if they escape, they do so as in a dream or an imagined adventure, where verisimilitude does not count and the possible expands immeasurably, making experiences considered by others to be science fiction concrete.
Let us remember that in the house the Moon which governs dreams, places of the spirit where time and space have a relative importance, is exalted for co-significance.
IF YOU HAVE A LOT OF PLANETS IN THE 12th HOUSE
A birth chart with a lot of planets in the 12th House, can give subjects who are not afraid of the passage of death, with a deep sensitiveness to the “other” worlds, and an attitude to be medium or clearvoyant. Probably these people can talk to aliens or to angels, since they are a child.
If this planets are brought to the extreme, and are stressed by a Square or an Opposition, perhaps these people can put an end to a situation of suffering, with the final escape from society through mental illness or a dependace from drugs, or with the final escape from life through suicide.
Much more often, however, the situation will give temperaments that imagine being a lighthouse keeper, or a heremite in a cave or monastery, to cultivate one’s thoughts in solitude and in contemplation of the infinite…
OUR RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE UNSEEN
The twelfth house is the most mysterious part of the chart: it is the hidden layer within each of us, connected to something beyond the self. It is connected to a collective divine energy that connects us to the unseen.
With each zodiac sign in the 12th house comes a “social code” that has affected our previous life and shaped the way we have understood reality.
It shaped who we were and what we were allowed to do. It started to feel like a cage, which doesn’t make us feel infinity.
And here we are, incarnating ourselves again in the same patterns, choosing a culture and a family that creates the same cage around us, so we can experience one of the most important things: getting out of the cage, because we have found the key to unlock it.
This is what can be found in the 12th house.
But to get out of that “cage” we really have to let go of a part of us.
We have to go through an ego death.
And in that process, we merge with the infinite.
Let’s become shamans. We are one with Spirit.
So we can interpret the twelfth house as a bridge between past life memories and your current connection with Divinity.
